GOLDEN MUSSEL: AQUATIC INVASIVE SPECIES

MLR has been awarded three separate grants in a proactive effort to prevent the spread of the Golden Mussel to the Eastern Sierra.

  • $6,500 in Local Program Funding through the Mono County Economic Development Fish and Game Fine Fund

  • $2,500 from Southern California Edison

  • $175,000 from Sierra Nevada Conservancy

These funds are being used to collaborate with partners for public outreach and on-the-ground resources aimed at preventing the spread of the invasive Golden Mussel into Mono County waterways.

MEASURE R AND U GRANTS

MLR is the recommending body to the Town of Mammoth Lakes for the expenditure of Special Tax Measures R & U. A large part of the recommendation is for the funds to be used as grants for projects and programs that support recreation, arts and culture in the community of Mammoth Lakes.

STEWARDSHIP EVENTS AND EASTERN SIERRA ADOPT A TRAIL PROGRAM

Fo the third consecutive year, MLR has been award $5,000 from Edison International for stewardship events and the Eastern Sierra Adopt a Trail program.

PLANNING GRANT:
SHERWINS AREA TRAILS + TRAILHEAD EXPANSION

MLR has been awarded a $510,000 planning grant to perform environemntal analysis work in the Sherwins Area for approximately 20 miles of proposed trails. This project will enhance and integrate into the existing MLTS project and is an important step toward providing sustainable recreation opportunities to the local community and visitors.
