SHERWINS AREA TRAILS + TRAILHEADS
Recreation use in the Sherwins area has traditionally been high and complex; the area is currently enjoyed year-round by individuals in pursuit of quiet and reflective natural experiences, backcountry skiers and snowboarders, world-class athletes in training, those seeking motorized play, and others.
LAKES BASIN CONNECTOR TRAILS
Due to increased visitation, limited parking, and persistent resource damage caused by user-created trails, the Town of Mammoth Lakes is building approximately 2.5 miles of multi-use, non-motorized U.S. Forest Service system trail(s) to provide additional recreation opportunities and connect trail users to popular destination features and facilities in the Lakes Basin cirque.
COMMUNITY RECREATION CENTER
The Community Recreation Center project was developed from the Town’s intent to create a ‘recreation destination’ that the entire community of Mammoth Lakes will actively enjoy, value and ultimately be proud to call their own.

BUCKEYE HOTSPRINGS
Buckeye Hotsprings is located on Buckeye Creek, a tributary to the Walker River, Bridgeport Reservoir, and Carson/Lahontan Watershed. This natural geo-thermal hotsprings is a popular day-use area located 10 miles from downtown Bridgeport and is easily accessed from numerous public/private campgrounds and primitive dispersed camping areas.
SHADY REST + INYO CRATERS
This unique landscape, combined with its proximity to the municipal interface, requires deliberate recreational use management, including sustainable trail and infrastructure design, to protect and preserve – for generations to come – not just the quality of the recreational experiences, but also the landscape and ecosystems these experiences depend on.
HORSESHOE BRIDGE
The bridge runs along the southwest shore of the lake and receives upwards of 400 users daily during the peak summer season. Many visitors and locals alike enjoy the trail as it is the only multi-use, soft surface trail in the Lakes Basin that allows bicycles. The Horseshoe Lake Trailhead is the terminus of the Lakes Basin Trolley route and where the Lakes Basin Path begins the extremely popular several mile descent back into Mammoth Lakes.
INCLUSIVE PLAYGROUND
Incorporating the Seven Principles of Inclusive Playground Design, the 7,700 square foot playground is specially designed to unite children, families and community citizens through the power of play.
KEEP LONG VALLEY GREEN
Our overriding goal is simple: for LADWP to provide a binding yearly water supply (adjusted for precipitation) for Long Valley and Little Round Valley, at a certain date.
