LAST CALL FOR MLR STEWARDSHIP VOLUNTEERS!

There is something powerful about caring for the places that care for us. From the trails we hike and ride, to the lakes we fish and paddle, to the campgrounds that welcome families all summer long, the Eastern Sierra thrives because of the stewardship community that shows up. And right now, we’re asking you to show up once more.

Volunteer sign-ups for MLR’s Stewardship Programs close March 31.

Whether you join Adopt-A-Trail, Tangle Free Waters, or Camp Like a Pro, you become part of a growing network of stewards who actively protect and enhance our public lands. Last year, nearly 90% of eligible recreation sites were adopted through our programs. That is an incredible reflection of community pride and shared responsibility.

Stewardship with MLR isn’t just about maintenance. It’s about education. It’s about visibility. It’s about creating a culture of care that ensures the Eastern Sierra remains a model alpine destination for recreation, arts, culture, and environmental responsibility.

Importantly, in Mammoth Lakes, this work reflects the intent of Measure R; the voter-approved special tax dedicated to enhancing recreation amenities and experiences. While Measure R helps invest in infrastructure and facilities, stewardship ensures those investments are protected, respected, and sustained. Volunteers amplify the value of public funding by caring for the very assets our community has chosen to prioritize.

As we look ahead to another busy summer season, your participation helps:

  • Reduce litter and environmental impacts

  • Protect wildlife and sensitive landscapes

  • Support visitor education and responsible recreation

  • Strengthen partnerships with the Inyo National Forest

  • Demonstrate the community value of Measure R investments

Take advantage of this opportunity and get involved and meet other like-minded folks. Sign up by March 31 and help us protect the places we love.
