The Valentine Lake Trailhead is located east of Sherwin Campground on Sherwin Creek Road. The trail begins with a tranquil stream crossing before ascending through sage steppe and California mixed conifer forest before merging with the Sherwin Creek Trail. The trail then enters the John Muir Wilderness and climbing past Lost Lake, terminates at beautiful Valentine Lake.
