SHERWIN MEADOWS TRAILHEAD CONSTRUCTION
This month when you head out to the Sherwin Meadows Trailhead, you’ll see just that - the NEW Sherwin Meadows Trailhead under construction!!! Hooray!!
In December 2021, Mammoth Lakes Recreation was awarded two grants from Sierra Nevada Conservancy totaling $1,460,000 to fund this multi-faceted project.
A $510,000 planning grant for the Sherwins Area Trails is funding the environmental analysis on approximately 20 miles of new trail and a future expanded trailhead area.
The second award of $950,000 is funding the construction of the Sherwin Meadows Trailhead.
Partnering with the Town of Mammoth Lakes, the new trailhead will provide a paved parking area and several new amenities including a double vault toilet, trash receptacles, wildlife resistant food storage, pet waste station, interpretive panels and bike racks.
🚧 Construction is expected to last into November.
🥾 Public access to the Sherwin Range will be maintained along the west shoulder of the current access road off of Sherwin Creek Road.
✌️Please respect the construction closure area for the duration of the project.
