MEASURE U PARTNER - CHAMBER MUSIC UNBOUND

Chamber Music Unbound was founded in 2003 and over the last 25 years has continued to grow and offer amazing performances and programs for this community. It is CMU’s mission to offer residents and visitors of the Eastern Sierra classical music performances of the highest artistic level, as well as quality music education opportunities, promoting mutual understanding and solidarity across political, social, racial, religious, age and gender boundaries.

Through a National Endowment for the Arts “Rural Residency Grant”, the Felici Piano Trio first moved to Mammoth Lakes in 1998. Five years later, as more and more programs were started, the trio became Chamber Music Unbound (CMU). Several of these programs continue today. Some of CMU’s programs that you can enjoy are:

  • Kids Concerts full of interactive performances by professional musicians for local students of all grade levels.

  • Community Music School offers year-round after-school instrumental programs at 5 sites, currently enrolling 120 young violinists and cellists grades K-12 with over 60% of students receiving instrument and/or tuition scholarships.

  • Adult Education in partnership with Cerro Coso Community College offers classes in Eastern Sierra Chamber Orchestra, Sierra Academy of Music, Appreciation of Jazz, History of Popular Music and Music Appreciation.

  • Winter Concert Series is 10 professional performances with the resident Felici Piano Trio and renowned guest artists at the Cerro Coso Colleges in Mammoth and Bishop.

  • Unbound Chamber Music Festival showcases 10 summer concerts, concurrent with the Sierra Academy of Music, for music students age 14-24, at Cerro Coso College.

Fast forward to 2022 and The Felici Piano Trio is celebrating its 25th season in the Eastern Sierra, and there are some wonderful concerts coming up! On November 5 & 6, the Felici Trio welcomes guest Aaron Hill, Professor of Oboe and Saxophone at University of Nevada, Reno. Then on December 9th, Eastern Sierra Chamber Orchestra performs a free concert at St. Joseph’s Church in Mammoth. Please check the CMU concert calendar to see all upcoming events to enjoy!
