Mammoth Lakes, CA (July 16, 2019) – Mammoth Lakes Recreation, in partnership with Mammoth Hospital and Mammoth Lakes Foundation, is proud to host a free screening of Teton Gravity Research’s “Mountain In The Hallway” this Thursday, July 18th.
Originally released in summer 2018, Mountain In The Hallway tells the story of two outdoor enthusiasts – one from Jackson, WY and one from San Diego, CA – who in the midst of fighting their individual battles against colorectal cancer, forge a friendship and vow to both climb Wyoming’s Grand Teton.
“This film documents the collision of an outdoor sports lifestyle and cancer,” says Matt McClain, Executive Director of Mammoth Lakes Recreation. “Unfortunately, this scenario is all too familiar here in Mammoth Lakes and the Eastern Sierra.”
Following the film, McClain will moderate a panel discussion focusing on the challenges of fighting cancer in a rural setting. Panelists include Tate McDowell, who stars in the film, along with local artist/free skier and cancer survivor “Flyin” Brian Jones. The panel will also include Dr. Yuri Parisky and Lisa Marusicz, RN from Mammoth Hospital
The event will take place at the Edison Theatre, located at 100 College Parkway, in Mammoth Lakes. Doors open at 6:30 pm with the film starting at 7:00 pm. Admission is free.
