|Eastern Sierra Climate and Communities Resilience Project|
(January 27, 2021) –
On January 14, Janet Hatfield and the Eastern Sierra Wildfire Alliance convened the second stakeholder meeting for the Eastern Sierra Climate and Communities Resilience Project. The November 12th kickoff meeting introduced the project area and focused on establishing a purpose and need for the project.
Over the holidays, stakeholders were directed to submit suggestions for edits to the proposed project area. At the January 14th meeting, stakeholders were able to discuss these potential edits in detail. Specifically, discussion focused on opportunities for collaboration across jurisdictions and possible inclusion of various land parcels owned by either Los Angeles Department of Water & Power or Town of Mammoth Lakes.
The group also spent some time drafting language to spell out the goals of the project. One benchmark that was mentioned was a goal to treat 10,000 acres in the first 5 years of implementation!
